The Legacy Continues for Subaru

Since its introduction in the auto market in 1989, the Subaru Legacy has attracted the attention of many car buyers not only for its good looks but also because of its reliability and performance. For the 2008 model year, the Japanese automaker gave the Legacy a mid-generation upgrades.

On the outside, the Japanese auto manufacturer changed the front end of the Legacy. Although Subaru changed the looks of the front end of the car, the change is subtle. Among the changes made by Subaru to the Legacy are the headlights, revised grille and the new side mirrors. On the rear end of the car, changes were made to the rear bumper and taillights. The Mitsubishi Colt: Sink or Swim?

The Mitsubishi Colt is yet another hatchback that has found itself lumped in with a myriad of others in the saturated supermini market. This market is very much sink or swim recently and to stay afloat your car has got to have something a little different or special to attract interest. So will the Mitsubishi Colt be riding along on the crest of a wave or sinking irretrievably amidst the gloomy waters of supermini failure?

The first impression is suitably impressive as the exterior ticks boxes you wouldn’t expect it to, as it manages to look solid and chunky yet you can be sure that you will be able to fit it into all but the very tightest of parking spaces. It has a tall roof that means that there will be enough room to comfortably seat at least 4 6-foot+ adults; reassuring news if you were ferrying guests to a medical giant’s convention.

The interior is relatively basic, but looks smart enough and appears to be of a high manufacturing standard and all the plastics are rigid and will stand up to ham-fisted testing. The seating is perhaps a little too firm, which makes long journeys a little undesirable, but as these cars are primarily designed for short city driving, this isn’t too much of a pressing concern. Making a Statement

Like most possessions kept for long enough, a good car inevitably becomes an extension of its owner’s personality. We do everything we can to make our beloved vehicles individual – after all, when you inevitably find yourself in a traffic jam in Kent, behind a new Giulietta identical to your own, it becomes important to feel that the vehicle you’re sitting in is just that little bit more exciting than the rest. And it amounts to more than simply filling the car with odd collections of half-forgotten personal effects. Whether it’s the colours of the floor mats, the comfortable shoes you keep tucked under the seat for long drives, or the particular pair of driving sunglasses you don no matter the weather, those of us who love our cars are dedicated to making our mark even in the smallest ways.

Most of us are content to stick with a few interior alterations; some might go a little further with a personalised numberplate or unusually coloured alloys. Then there are those drivers among determined to – quite literally – stop traffic. For the more adventurous, driving an ordinary Ford down to the shops just won’t cut it anymore: the car becomes an opportunity for another art project. Cars have been covered in grass and floppy disks and converted into mobile homes with (allegedly) working showers. In comparison with these labours of love, the rest of us and our special driving sunglasses should be ashamed of our lack of effort. Most of us are content to stick with a few interior alterations; some might go a little further with a personalised numberplate or unusually coloured alloys.
